Dr. JennaLou Hollnagel-Kauffman
Dr. JennaLou Hollnagel-Kauffman was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Florida, majoring in Pre-professional Botany. Throughout childhood and into college, Dr. Kauffman was a competitive equestrian rider and trainer. To pursue her passion for science and sports medicine, she worked in the Cancer and Genetics Research Center for the University of Florida and for the Florida Gators Football team.
Dr. Kauffman decided to stay in her home state and attend Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in the top 10 percent of her class. She completed residency at Baptist Health in Boynton Beach, FL where she was trained by renowned Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Hollnagel-Kauffman received extensive training in the care of conditions involving the Foot, Ankle and Lower Leg, including Elective, Traumatic and Reconstructive Foot and Ankle surgery. She served as Chief Resident during her residency training, having developed special interest in Peripheral Neuropathy and Peripheral Nerve Surgery. Dr. Kauffman has performed hundreds of successful Nerve Decompression help treat nerve pain and drop foot deformity.
Dr. Kauffman is a Board Certified Podiatrist and Foot/Ankle Surgeon. She can treat all types of deformities through advanced surgical techniques. She is also a Board Certified Wound Care Specialist and has her Certification in Hyperbaric Oxygen Medicine. Dr. Hollnagel-Kauffman has won awards for Limb Salvage during her time in Advanced Wound Care Centers, including Center of Distinction and the Presidents Award. She also specializes in Regenerative Medicine including restoration of foot cushion from fat pad atrophy, botox injections for foot pain and lower extremity deformities, treatment of tendonitis without the use of steroids, treatment of varicose veins as well as minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Dr. Hollnagel- Kauffman has a love for teaching. She has offered a Surgical Podiatric and Wound Care rotation, working with Residents and Medical students. She has also given lectures during the Resident Didactic meetings and helped residents with research posters for their graduation. Dr. JennaLou is also a key opinion leader, traveling across the United States to give medical education presentations to her peers about wounds and wound care.
Although trained in the most intricate and involved surgical procedures of the lower extremity, it is important for Dr. Kauffman to attempt conservative treatment options first, using surgery only as a last resort. Every patient has a unique set of circumstances that requires individualized treatment to get her patients to return to their desired lifestyle. Dr. JennaLou strives to make sure that her patients are educated about the treatment options that would be the best for their specific condition. Dr. Hollnagel-Kauffman believes education is the key to great outcome because every condition and circumstance is unique.
When she is not treating patients and teaching, JennaLou enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and 2 dogs. Dr. Kauffman also enjoys health and fitness, before becoming a doctor she was a Certified Personal Trainer and participated in fitness competitions during medical school. Being a Florida girl, she also loves the beach, swimming, fishing, scuba diving and equestrian riding.
